A Southern Summer Treat!

I have not been posting for almost a month, because of family issues.  My sweet hubby and I both are very tired, stressed, and  have been spending a lot of quiet time by ourselves until we can fully recover.  Hopefully, we have found a resolution, and one that is good for us and our entire family, especially son Michael.

I have missed blogging, and my blog friends.  I decided today to start out with something simple...a real Southern treat that I have loved all of my life.  It is not a recipe, but just me sharing one of my favorite things!

Our very first tomato of the season was ripe when I went out this morning...so I picked it, and made my myself...and hubby, a "mater sammich"....better known as a tomato sandwich.  Here's what you need:

2 slices of soft, white "store bread"
Duke's mayonnaise
Salt (I am a purist, and do not use pepper. but I give you permission to do so ;) )
1 red, ripe, juicy, delicious, homegrown tomato, sliced.

Just slather the mayo on the bread, add the tomato slices, and add your salt...and pepper, if you insist.  Enjoy

I will post more later.  I am glad to be back.

  4. I hope things come around for you and your family. I've had a lot going on, too, but hope to be back with some regular posts as well. Like you, we've gotten our first ripened tomatoes this week and they sure put a smile on my face.

  6. I love tomato sandwiches. I make my own bread but when the tomatoes are on, I have to go buy a loaf of store-bought white bread. Just not the same on anything else.

  9. Hi Patsy....I noticed I haven't seen you recently, but did not know you were having family issues. I hope things will get better for everyone soon.

You may know that my family grew tomatoes in a greenhouse for many years, so my family had enjoyed many tomato sandwiches.

Thanks for showing even a simple meal can bring joy in times of stress, for meal time is a great way to enjoy family time together. Again, I hope all is well with you.

Sorry I am so late in visiting....the last few weeks have been crazy for me....but I wanted to stop by to thank you for visiting my party.
